From Whangarei Airport (Onerahi) - Approximately 1 hour - 60km.

Whangarei.
Overview of instructions from Auckland
It is very simple to navigate out of the Airport and up to Baylys Beach.
Look for signs to the motorway heading North which will take you to
Highway 1 North. After Wellsford (which has fast food, toilets, petrol
etc.) and Kaiwaka you must turn left off the highway signposted for
Dargaville. Baylys Beach is on the West coast, 12km further on from
Dargaville.
Detailed instructions from Auckland to Dargaville
- Leave Auckland and follow signs North.
- Tom Pearce drive takes you away from the airport.
- Turn Left onto Highway 20A (North) which goes into Highway 20 (North).
- Turn Right into Queenstown Road (Highway 12) which becomes Manukau Road.
- Keep following the signs for the motorway and you will turn Left into
Alper Ave.
- Signs will direct you Right into Gillies Ave and then left to Highway #1
(North).
- Go into the 3rd land (right side) and you will pass over the famous
Harbour Bridge.
- Keep following signs for North (direction Whangarei).
- Wellsford is a good stretching place with lots of local amenities.
- After Kaiwaka, is Brenderwyn and signs for Dargaville - Turn left here.
- As you enter Dargaville you will cross a large bridge. Take the first
left into town.
Directions from Dargaville to Baylys Beach
- Drive through the main street until the road splits (by a petrol station
on your right)
- Veer to the left and go over a small bridge and follow the large river
on your left.
- Continue 400m until you see a large brown sign on the left (Baylys Beach)
- Turn Right and travel another 2.5 km until the next sign for Baylys Beach
- Turn Left for Baylys Beach (the road continues in the direction of Kai
Iwi Lakes)
- Follow the road through countryside for 9km to the welcome signs to the
Beach
- Turn Right (around Sharkey's takeaways) onto Seaview Road (#28)
